CeBIT 2008 In Hannover

Same procedure as last year… you can watch some pictures on my flickr account.

I must say that the only interesting hall for a private person was No. 22 where they showed Rock Band, a new music game for the Xbox. ;-)

What a pity that the memory of my digicam was full - we managed to master the whole song!

Issue #1: mso.dll forces Excel to crash on exit

Recently, my Excel 2003 installation crashed on exit 90% of the time with the following message:

Faulting application excel.exe, version 11.0.8169.0, stamp 465f27bd, faulting module mso.dll, version 11.0.8172.0, stamp 46771b00, debug? 0, fault address 0×0003f458.

I googled desperately for a patch/workaround/hint, but found nothing. Then, I thought: “What if I just deleted the mso.dll (–> C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE11\mso.dll)? Excel should then re-install it, right?” And it did - no more such crashes. I visited the office update site, but no update was needed.

Issue #2: Excel replaces a simple cell link formula with GETPIVOTDATA

How to solve this issue is described here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287736/

I use the Auto_Open macro sub Auto_Open() in my PERSONL.XLS to switch this automatic behaviour off.

I just finally purchased a ticket at www.eventim.de for Katie Melua who plays on April 17th, 2008 @ 20:00 (= 08:00 PM) in the AWD-Hall in Hannover - and I must say I am pretty excited about what the live-show will be like.

Maschsee Hannover - Jogging RouteToday, I thought I should give my new heart rate monitor (a Suunto t1) a chance to prove its quality - so I took a ride to the Maschsee in Hannover (by car, of course) and tried to jog. » read more…

I really like those “brick dudes” who spend hours and hours to make those nice little stop-motion movies! :-)

Since I started jogging, I’ve been wondering if I should purchase one of those nice heart rate monitors.

I already own one (TCM = Tchibo) which my father gave to me, because he did not use it. The display did not show anything when I took it out of the packaging a while ago, so I went to the city on Saturday to have the battery replaced. The display seemed to work fine again after replacing the battery, but when I returned home, I noticed that I could press whatever button I liked - none would work, the display would always show the same. So, I think I will put it to rest and buy a new one. I don’t know if TCM is good enough in such electronic devices, anyway.
