Off To Get Married In Australia

I have just finished packing most of my stuff, so now I am sitting here, trying to realize that we will be off to Australia tomorrow (plane starts @ 15:25 from Hamburg) as kind of “bachelor and bachelorette” – and we will be coming back as a MARRIED couple… can you believe that? Suzan is already asleep – she is somehow more focused on getting things done. I am always trying to do several things at once, which leaves me with not finishing a single one of them in time. Maybe that’ll change when we come back. I was thinking about changing some things in my life, anyway… maybe I will even try to cook some chicken in the future? You never know… *LOL* I will try to keep you … Read entire article »

CSS Naked Day 2009

I just registered for CSS Naked Day at naked.dustindiaz.com. It just made me realize that my theme design kind of sucks. Quote from that website: The idea behind this event is to promote Web Standards. Plain and simple. This includes proper use of (x)html, semantic markup, a good hierarchy structure, and of course, a good ‘ol play on words. It’s time to show off your <body>. (end of quote) To determine the CSS Naked Day date and to strip off the CSS from the theme, I am using the WordPress Plugin that can be found here. CSS Naked Day should start in less than 2 hours from now at my place, but in some places, it is already April 9th. So be sure to set the time to the recommended 48 … Read entire article »

Friday The 13th, A Car Crash & Google Translate Part III

On Friday, March 13th, 2009, me and my fiancée were on our way to my parents, driving down the Autobahn A7 Hannover in the direction of Kassel, when we had to stop in a traffic jam near the departure to Hildesheim. Fortunately, we had left a gap for the police and the ambulance (as so-called “Rettungsgasse”) – otherwise, the guy that was coming to a stop right between our car (middle lane) and the others (left lane) would have crashed right into us… seems like he was a little distracted. SO, PEOPLE, REMEMBER: ALWAYS LEAVE THAT GAP IF YOU ARE IN A TRAFFIC JAM, EVEN IF SOME PEOPLE TELL YOU NOT TO – IT CAN SAVE YOU FROM BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED – MAYBE IT CAN EVEN SAVE YOUR LIFE! Here … Read entire article »

Disable Image Caption Shortcode In WordPress

I just read this nice article by Frank Bültge that deals with the image caption shortcode that WordPress creates automatically when you add an image via the media manager. As I never really liked it, I can’t say how happy I am that someone finally explained to me how to get rid of it in a very simple way. Just add the following code as a plugin or to your functions.php: add_filter( 'disable_captions', create_function('$a', 'return true;') ); I have just written a small plugin that you can download here. Credits should go to Frank Bültge for this. Thanks! … Read entire article »

Call To Undefined Function get_currentuserinfo()

I just recently updated my WordPress plugins, and after I downloaded Maintenance Mode (v4.0) and uploaded it onto my WordPress blog, Filosofo Comments Preview threw an error that said: Call to undefined function get_currentuserinfo()… That was pretty odd, because both plugins worked fine before – now, after updating one of them, the other one threw an error. … Read entire article »

… Read entire article »
