Problems With Firewall Of KIS 6.0
I just installed a trial version of Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 because their virus scanner is supposed to be the best. So I thought I could give that security suite a chance. After installing, I found out that “Counterstrike” did not show my favorite servers, although I set all featrures in KIS to allow TCP in/out as well as UDP in/out for both steam.exe and hl.exe. I googled this problem and found some posts reading that KIS has indeed some problems with Steam / Counterstrike. Well, I think I’ll just go with the Kaspersky Antivirus, then, and let the free version of ZoneAlarm do the firewall stuff again… … Read entire article »

Milow – “You Don’t Know”
You gotta check “Milow” out, it’s a really nice band! Official homepage: www.milow.be As they provide a youtube.com-link to the “You Don’t Know” video themselves, I guess it’s OK for me to put it here… normally, I wouldn’t do that with music videos, you know that. –> www.youtube.com/watch?v=o32x-kHGaTo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o32x-kHGaTo … Read entire article »

Tweaking Counterstrike
I found some nice links which tell you how to improve the performance of Counterstrike. I updated my settings – and all of a sudden my performance is now much better! No more lagging… nice! Unfortunately, they are written in German… if you know some similar English sites, please post a comment. www.baerlinonline.de/cs-config.html www.chip.de/c1_forum/thread.html?bwthreadid=427502 … Read entire article »

Trouble With Templates And CSS In WP [UPDATED]
I had the following problems: “Pages”-list in sidebar: If you take a look at the “Pages” navigation in the sidebar, you’ll notice the big distance between the headline – “Pages” – and the first entry (currently “Counterstrike”). I already know that the template uses wp_list_pages(), and that you can change the style via CSS using the “current_page_item” or the “page_item” selector. I tried to integrate it into my stylesheet setting the “margin-bottom” to zero px, but nothing happened…[UPDATE from 2007-02-13] OK, this was a tricky one – but after inspecting the css-code I found out that the wisdom lies within “#sidebar ul ul”… Ordered list in comments: I wanted to show comments as an ordered list using “1, 2, 3, …” and so forth. So I exchanged “<ul>” with “<ol>” … Read entire article »

Very nice! “Comment Live Preview” plugin for WordPress: http://www.iacons.net/work/comment-live-preview/ [Update from 2007-09-30] Hm… all of a sudden, I noticed that this plugin doesn’t work any longer, so I had to deactivate it – what a pity. … Read entire article »

Problem With Theme Editor After Update To WP 2.1 [UPDATED]
I have some trouble using the WP 2.1 interface: Although all files are visible in the “themes” directory when I use my FTP prog, some templates do not appear in the theme editor. I can edit them using the link of a “visible” template from the list on the right and manually exchanging the template name in the address bar of my browser, but they just do not appear in that list on the right. Does anyone know what went wrong? File attributes are set like all the others, no difference… maybe it has something to to with the browser cache? Help would be appreciated, thanks! [UPDATE from 2007-02-13] It seems to be a bug in WP 2.1, see this post on wordpress.org for a workaround. … Read entire article »

Weblog Updated To WordPress 2.1
I finally managed to update my weblog now that WordPress 2.1 has been issued (see this post). Updating is quite simple, the instructions given by wordpress.org should be sufficient. I just updated the following plugins: Category Tagging Plugin, since the old version no longer works with WP 2.1, Subscribe To Comments, since there are some improvements (nice work, now you can actually see who subscribed which posts), WordPress Database Backup, because it takes advantage of the WordPress cron system (whatever that means ). All other plugins work fine, no changes had to be made on my part. BTW: I LOVE THE TABBED EDITOR IN WP 2.1!!! … Read entire article »
