Kaspersky Antivirus 6 Slowing Down Firefox?
I just recently discovered that I had problems with Firefox showing the “Write”, “Manage” and “Comments” pages within the WordPress interface. It took much too long time to display the pages after clicking on the link. IE worked fine, though. So, I thought about what changes I’ve made recently, and I recalled installing Kaspersky Antivirus 6 lately. One of the KAV modules is the “Web-Anti-Virus” that is supposed to scan http-headers while surfing. It was set to “recommended” by default. After setting it to “low”, everything worked fine again. I don’t really know if there is a close connection, but I have read several threads in the Kaspersky forum referring to firefox. I am still using the trial version, and I am not sure wether to buy Kaspersky AV if … Read entire article »

Excerpt from the Joost® FAQ: What is Joost®? Joost® is a new way of watching TV on the internet, which uses new and established technologies to provide the best of both the internet and TV worlds. Bug In Skype 3: No History Tab When Only Sending SMS
I just discovered that if you are using Skype in version 3 just to send SMS and not for calling, no history tab will be shown – i.e. you can’t see the texts you have already sent. As soon as you make a call, the history tab will show up. So, here is a workaround: Just make a call to whatever number you like and let it ring once (you don’t need anyone to answer the call). Then, all of a sudden, the history tab will appear! Ads In Counterstrike After Steam Update
I was very surprised today when I saw that – after a short steam update – they now show ads in Counterstrike! Well, I saw that coming… Click on the images to see the screenshot. I marked the ads with a red hand, which means that you don’t actually see that hand in the game – just to make that clear. … Read entire article »

Zoom Player v5
A long time ago, I used Zoom Player as my default media player. But as it had some difficulties with some codecs, I switched to VideoLAN VLC Media Player. Handling Image Spam With Thunderbird
Being so sick of spammers trying to bypass text-based anti-spam filters by sending text as images (so-called “image spam”), I googled and happened to find an interesting website which explains how to set filters in Thunderbird to sort out that kind of junk mails (see the link below). In addition to that, I created a new folder Possible Image Spam as a subfolder of Junk where such mails are stored, so that I can easily sort out “false positives”. Note: You should also set From to isn’t in my address book as decribed in the MozillaZine Knowledge Base.
