I just recently took a look at my “Blog Info” stats page and saw the following: I opened the hits table page of the FireStats WordPress plugin and saw a lot of traffic coming from the IPs starting with 83.190.___.___ (click here to see a screenshot from that “hits table” which grew really large because of those IP hit entries). … Read entire article »

Zak McKracken – Between Time And Space

Quote from the website: “Zak McKracken: Between Time and Space” is an unofficial sequel of the adventure-classic “Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders” which was released in 1988. We (a bunch of adventure-fans) made it our task to use the theme of this impressive cult-game and create a sequel which follows in the footsteps of the classic adventure games, but at the same time delivers a brand new experience. (end of quote) This game can be downloaded for free, it is about 2 GB large. I am not sure if it is available in English yet – the English website reads: “The game is not yet released ” Original website: www.zak2.org Remember: This is a fan project and no official sequel to “Zak McKracken And The Alien Mindbenders” by LucasArts! … Read entire article »

My First Panorama Image

Today, I tried to stitch together my first panorama image, and I must say I am a little proud of myself. The panorama image shows about 180 degrees and consists of 8 pictures. All you have to do is to take a tripod, take a picture, turn the camera around so that you always have a big enough connection to the previous picture (an overlap of 20% to 30% is recommended) and then take the next one. Then, use a software like Hugin to stitch them together. Be sure to also download Autopano (or Autopano-Sift) and Enblend, for Hugin makes use of them. I had to correct the perspective with Paint Shop Pro X afterwards because the horizon was somehow crooked… although I had the feeling I did not move … Read entire article »

How To Extract Images From Microsoft Word

I just recently had to extract some images from Microsoft Word, because they were embedded and I did not have access to the original photos. I tried to copy them and then insert them into my graphics application – that did not work: “You cannot insert a file!” So I just dragged the pictures with the mouse into the graphics application – where they ended up much too small. Then I noticed that the size of the dragged picture was dependend on the actual zoom rate in Microsoft Word. “There must be a better solution!” So I googled and found the solution here (in German): Just save the document as HTML-file – the pictures will be there in two different versions: one of them is the original size! … Read entire article »
