Quick Review Of “Batman – The Dark Knight”

The Joker in the Cinemaxx HannoverI have just returned from “Batman – The Dark Knight” that I have seen in the original version at 19:30 in the Cinemaxx Hannover.

Those who follow my tweets might have read this one where I was complaining that all possible tickets were already reserved.

Well, me and Suzan took a chance and went there, nonetheless – and we were lucky: at 19:10, the reserved tickets that weren’t picked up went back to public sale, and luckily, we were the first in the queue and got some nice seats in the middle of the last row.

So, what can I say about this blockbuster movie? Damn – it’s the bomb! If you want entertainment (and that’s why you go to the movies in the first place, right?), then there is no way to stay away from this one.

I really like Christian Bale – he is the best Batman ever.

And Heath Ledger? Unbelievable!

Ticket for Batman - The Dark KnightThis movie is 152 minutes long and therefore 12 minutes longer than “Batman Begins”. I suggest you go to the toilet properly before you watch the movie, because you wouldn’t wanna miss a second – well, that was at least my impression.

I admit, the storyline is a little thin sometimes (cue: fingerprint analysis, sonar)… but hey: it’s Batman – why so serious?

Oh, one last thing: What’s wrong with all the cars being wrecked in the movies lately? First, a Lamborghini Gallardo gets blown up in “M:I:III” (2006), then an Aston Martin DBS V12 crashes in “Casino Royal” (2006) – and now, a nice Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 gets smashed in “Batman – The Dark Knight”. Why, oh why, does it always have to be such a nice car? :-)

[Update from 2009-02-08]

I got a nice comment on this post by a guy called James Gilks who would love to see the Riddler become a really dark and twisted person. He thinks that the Mad Hatter is going to be one of the next enemies, and he also loves the idea if the next Batman movie involved Arkham Asylum.

The reason why I do not display his comment is because (a) he uses the opportunity for some shameless self-promotion and (b) he is selling merchandise for some really morbid stuff.

What a pity…

It seems like he is someone that really is into Batman and knows what he is talking about. So James, your comments are still welcome – just don’t advertise your stuff, please. :-)
