How To Measure Jogging Routes Online
As I have started jogging a week ago, I was looking for a website that lets you measure distances so that you know how long your jogging route is.
Of course, I thought of Google Maps first – the problem is that you can just choose streets as markers, not each and every point you wish.
So I began searching via Google (of course) and found this nice website:
- GMAP Pedometer:
www.gmap-pedometer.com
Actually, this is (quote):
a hack that uses Google’s mapping application to help record distances traveled and calories burned during a running or walking workout. (end of quote)
You do not have to do the same work if your route is a “there and back” route – just click on a link and everything is done automatically. You can even save your routes and re-edit them later – this link should point to my route from last Friday. Actually, I don’t know how long this route is gonna be saved there, so I put up a screenshot on my Flickr account.
For measuring the length of your jogging route, this site should be totally sufficient.
Great work!

I have found another nice website which might even be better, because you can look for saved routes in your area and create an account where you can save several routes under your username. You can also look for routes saved by a special user. This website also uses Google’s mapping application.
