The Pseudacteon Can Be Cruel
At the bottom of this article on the Discovery Channel website, I found a video about flies that can decapitate fire ants. You can watch the video (that I failed to embed) here.
This fly called Pseudacteon (more images here) injects its eggs into a fire ant’s thorax region – the larva then migrates to the head, which – after about 2 to 3 weeks – will eventually… fall off!
Yes, I mean THE HEAD will fall off, not the larva.
The Pseudacteon is really a cruel child of Nature…
