WordPress Plugin “WP Ajax Edit Comments”
We all know this situation: you would like to edit a comment you have made AFTER you pressed the “Submit!” button (maybe because of a mistype, maybe you want to add/delete something).
Normally, visitors to a WordPress blog will not be able to edit a comment once they have pressed the “Submit!” button - unless they need to register and have the necessary rights.
With this nice plugin, your users can edit their comments for a period of 15 minutes - the time that is left for editing can be shown as a dynamic countdown. In addition to that, this plugin makes use of AJAX, so the reloading of the whole page is not necessary - only the (edited) comments will be reloaded.
Admins can edit, delete or mark comments as spam directly from the blog view.
Installing this plugin is really very simple - just copy it to your plugin folder and activate it, that’s all! You don’t need to change anything manually - unless you want to adjust the appearance via CSS.

Somehow, it seems like this plugin does not work any longer. I do not know the reason, for I have not changed anything within my templates… hm, maybe another plugin interacts. Well, maybe I will integrate it again as soon as my own template is finished (if ever, that is).

It’s really a pity: the plugin worked again for quite some time after a major update - you could edit your comments in a nice editor. But there were problems with the jQuery include. jQuery 1.2.6 could not be used, so it was deregistered by the plugin and jQuery 1.2.3 was integrated. Now, Ronald wanted to change it to work with the latest jQuery version 1.2.6 - it’s a shame it doesn’t. Even reverting back to 1.2.3 did not make it work again. I guess we have to wait until someone figures it out. What a shame to deactivate it. BTW: You are invited to join the discussion in the WordPress support forum.

Well, actually, v2.2.0.0 is working fine now. Seems like it was a misunderstanding. In earlier versions, you could edit comments that were held for moderation. In the new version, that feature is deliberately dismissed. Since I was trying with a bogus name and mail, the test comment was held for moderation - and so it didn’t work. Works fine if a comment is automatically approved (see below).

Despite the fact that it worked, I decided to deactivate this plugin, because I want to slim down my blog.

As I always say: good work should be honored.

This is a test comment to see if WP Ajax Edit Comments 2.2.2.0 is working now. Ronald says if a comment is held for moderation, it is supposed not to show up.
Edit: It works if the comment is not held for moderation - yippieh!
