Steve Martin in “The Pink Panther” (2006)
I never thought I could like a movie with Steve Martin in it. Right, he is kind of an icon of the comedy, but I never quite liked his movies and way of acting - didn’t hate it, either. It just did not appeal to me.
Well, that has changed dramatically since I saw “The Pink Panther” with him and Kevin Kline on TV yesterday!
Steve Martin plays the clumsy Inspector Clouseau - and his performance is hilarious! His movements, gestures and way of speaking with this unbelievably funny French accent really got me, as well at what he is saying (quoting):
Journalist: Inspector, do you know if the killer was a man or woman?
Clouseau: Well of course I know that! What else is there? A kitten?
or
Agent 006: Boswell. Nigel Boswell. 006. You know what that means?
Clouseau: Of course! It means you are one away from the big time.
This movie definitely belongs in my DVD collection.
