Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof”
I’ve seen Tarantino’s new movie yesterday, July 21th, 2007, in the Cinemaxx (Raschplatz) in Hannover – what can I say? I am not so much a fan of the 70′s movies and their style, either, but this one is really – cuckoo.
Forget about all this modern camera techniques and CGI: this one is all about bad picture quality, bad cuts and sometimes awful editing – on purpose, of course. From one moment to another, the picure changes to black and white, there are very sudden cuts, artefacts on the camera and so on…
I do not know if one can even say that there is a “story” to the movie – but I guess this is irrelevant. It is a Tarantino movie – there are more important things than a story in a Tarantino movie, right?
I really liked the movie… especially the soundtrack: it is AWESOME!
One must say that “Death Proof” – as far as I know – was shown as a double feature in the US in combination with Robert Rodriguez’ “Planet Terror” that will be launched in Germany on October 4th, 2007, according to filmstarts.de.
