I found some nice links which tell you how to improve the performance of Counterstrike. I updated my settings - and all of a sudden my performance is now much better! No more lagging… nice!
Unfortunately, they are written in German… if you know some similar English sites, please post a comment.

I had the following problems:

“Pages”-list in sidebar:
If you take a look at the “Pages” navigation in the sidebar, you’ll notice the big distance between the headline - “Pages” - and the first entry (currently “Counterstrike”). I already know that the template uses wp_list_pages(), and that you can change the style via CSS using the “current_page_item” [...]

I have some trouble using the WP 2.1 interface:
Although all files are visible in the “themes” directory when I use my FTP prog, some templates do not appear in the theme editor.
I can edit them using the link of a “visible” template from the list on the right and manually exchanging the template name in [...]

I finally managed to update my weblog now that WordPress 2.1 has been issued (see this post).
Updating is quite simple, the instructions given by wordpress.org should be sufficient.
I just updated the following plugins:

Category Tagging Plugin, since the old version no longer works with WP 2.1,
Subscribe To Comments, since there are some improvements (nice work, now [...]

On January 22, 2007 the new WordPress 2.1 “Ella” was issued.
This version includes some great improvements:

autosave function,
tabbed editor (switch between “visual” and “code” view),
set any page of your choice as start page (not just the weblog),
more use of AJAX,
some interface redesign,
over 500 bug fixes,
and much more…
